School clinic equipment in Qatar: who oversees the health room and what to order

By GCC StretchersPublished 7 min read

The short answer

Qatar has not published one national equipment list for school clinics that we could find. In May 2025 the Ministry of Public Health began auditing health units in private schools and kindergartens with the education ministry and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), and PHCC nurses staff government school clinics, so your school health team sets the list. What we supply for it: the DW-EC104 examination couch (180 kg static load; 180 × 60 × 65 cm; backrest 0–75°) for the clinic room, DW-CC001B child (47 × 17 cm) and DW-CC001A adult (56 × 19 cm) collars so both sizes are on the shelf, the DW-F002 folding stretcher (5 kg; folds to 104 × 17 × 9 cm) for sports fields and halls, and ICP001 cold packs (99 per carton) and DW-FA012 splints for restock.

Nurses, principals and facilities managers at Qatar private schools, international schools and nurseries face the same question each year before an inspection or a new term: what should the clinic hold, and who decides? This guide sets out who oversees school health in Qatar according to public reports, what one Doha school's published clinic policy shows in practice, and how to turn that into a clinic and first aid equipment order with adult and child sizes. It is a purchasing guide, not medical or regulatory advice.

Who oversees school clinics in Qatar

In May 2025 the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) launched an audit and oversight project for healthcare personnel in private schools and kindergartens, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and PHCC. The Peninsula reported that it verifies that health units in educational institutions comply with health and preventive standards and evaluates the quality of care. If you run a private school or nursery, expect the clinic, its records and its equipment to be looked at.

Government school clinics are staffed differently: MoPH workshops in December 2025 and October 2026 trained PHCC school health nurses who work in government schools, under the Asthma-Friendly Schools Programme. In a government school, ask the PHCC school health team which items they already supply before you order. We did not find a published national equipment list for school clinics, so treat any list, including the one below, as a draft for your school health team to approve.

  • Private schools and kindergartens: health units audited by MoPH with MOEHE and PHCC (from May 2025).
  • Government schools: school health nurses from PHCC.
  • No national clinic equipment list found in public sources; your health team approves the list.

What one Doha school's clinic policy shows

GEMS Wellington School Qatar publishes its clinic manual. It describes the clinic as a licensed facility under the MoPH Health Facilities Department, staffed by two full-time nurses during school hours, and states that there shall be one full-time nurse for every 750 students. It also says the nurse keeps the medical supplies and equipment needed for first aid and emergency care available and in good working condition, that first aid kits are posted in common areas, and that the school calls the emergency ambulance service on 999.

That is one school's policy, not a national rule, but it shows what auditors and parents look for: a licensed room, named staff, equipment that is checked, and first aid supplies outside the clinic as well as in it. Your own policy decides the list; the table below maps the items we supply onto it.

Match catalogue items to the clinic and the campus

Plan the clinic room and the places where students get hurt, usually the sports field, the hall and the playground, separately. The figures below are catalogue facts to compare against your approved list and room measurements; patient suitability and collar sizing follow the manufacturer instructions supplied with the exact model.

Measure the room and the routes before ordering

School clinics are often converted classrooms or small offices. Measure the floor and the door before you order a 180 cm couch, and walk the route from the sports field and the top floor to the clinic and to the ambulance drop-off. Compare corridor, door and lift widths with 55 cm for the DW-F002 and 54 cm for the DW-F009, both open.

Keep the folding stretcher where the PE teacher or first aider can reach it during sports and events, not locked in the clinic, and put it on the clinic's equipment checklist so it is inspected with the rest.

  • Clinic floor area and door width.
  • Distance and route from each sports field and hall to the clinic.
  • Narrowest corridor, stair landing and lift on that route.
  • Ambulance drop-off point and its door.

Buyer questions, answered

Who checks school clinics in Qatar?

Public reports say the Ministry of Public Health audits health units in private schools and kindergartens, with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and PHCC, under a project launched in May 2025. Government school health nurses are PHCC staff. Ask your school health team which standards apply to your clinic.

Is there a national equipment list for a school clinic in Qatar?

We did not find one published. Schools write their own clinic policy for their health team and the ministry to review, so use your approved list. Our catalogue covers the couch, collars, stretchers, splints and cold packs, not medicines, AEDs or complete kits.

Which examination couch suits a school clinic?

The DW-EC104 has a 180 kg static load, measures 180 × 60 × 65 cm and has a backrest adjustable from 0 to 75°. Measure the room and its door first, leaving space to work around the couch.

Should a school clinic stock child and adult cervical collars?

Schools with students and staff usually ask for both sizes. Our catalogue has the DW-CC001B child collar (47 × 17 cm) and the DW-CC001A adult collar (56 × 19 cm), listed as separate models. Sizing and use follow the supplied manufacturer instructions and your nurse's training.
